‘Huge Problem’: Democrat on CNN Sounds Off on Viral Fox News Interview of Dem Socialist Co-Chair Calling to Abolish the Senate

Democratic strategist Sabrina Singh distanced her party from the policy’s touted by Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) on Tuesday, calling the group’s platform a “huge problem” as she reacted to a Fox News interview with DSA co-chair Megan Romer.

The exchange came after Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream put Romer through a rapid-fire series of questions about DSA’s policy positions.

Bream asked whether the organization supports eliminating the Senate, replacing the presidency and Supreme Court “as we now know them,” abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), abolishing borders, granting amnesty to anyone in the United States illegally, defunding the Pentagon, abolishing prisons and placing most large corporations under public ownership.

Romer smiled as she agreed and nodded along while the host read out each position, confirming that the policy points were part of the organization’s long-term goals.

On Tuesday’s CNN’s NewsNight, host Abby Phillip aired a clip of the Fox News moment before observing that democratic socialists were increasingly becoming “a competing force” with traditional Democrats “within their own party.”

Singh, a former deputy Pentagon press secretary who also worked on Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign, rejected the platform outright:

Yeah, I think that’s a huge problem. I don’t agree with any of those statements. I don’t think a majority of Democrats agree with those statements. I think we have a lot of great candidates running across the country, some that are veterans and some that are from the moderate side of the party.

These are views that are, I think, represented by a very small amount of individuals that are not representative of the Democratic Party at large. And I personally do not support this.

The ideological clash comes as the DSA continues to build momentum through a string of Democratic primary victories ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, including wins in New York, Colorado and the election of self-professed democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as New York City Mayor.
