‘I Can’t Even Believe I Have to Fact-Check That One’: Kaitlan Collins Incredulous at Trump’s Wild Claim About Biden
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins felt compelled on Wednesday to fact-check Donald Trump over a claim he made about Joe Biden and an illicit substance.
Speaking at a rally in Racine, Wisconsin on Wednesday, the former president suggested that Biden will do cocaine before the two debate next Thursday on CNN.
“He’s gonna be so pumped up, he’s gonna be pumped up,” Trump told the crowd before alluding to a baggy of cocaine found at the White House last year. “You know all that stuff that was missing about a month ago from the White House? What happened?… Somebody didn’t pick up hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cocaine. I wonder who that could’ve been. I don’t know. Actually, I think it was Joe.”
Collins prefaced Trump’s comments on The Source by stating the former president is trying to manage expectations in “the most Trumpian way possible.” She then aired his comments about Biden and provided a fact check.
“I can’t even believe I have to fact-check that one, I guess if that’s what you’re calling it,” Collins said in utter disbelief. “But it was not President Biden’s.”
Republicans have long accused Biden of being “senile” or at least in “cognitive decline.” But Biden has managed to buck that image in major speeches such as the State of the Union address. After this year’s speech to a joint session of Congress, Sean Hannity of Fox News dubbed Biden, “Jacked-Up Joe” and suggested the president was under the influence of something.
“He sounded like a hyper-caffeinated, angry, old man,” Hannity said at the time.
