‘I’m Gonna Take That as a No’: Chris Hayes Gets Non-Answer From Democratic Governor on Whether RFK Jr. Should Resign

Colorado Governor Jared Polis refused to say whether Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. should resign when asked by MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.

Kennedy is in the news again this week after a tumultuous appearance before the Senate on Thursday. Democrats and Republicans took turns peppering Kennedy with questions about his policies on vaccines and his removal of several top officials at the Centers for Disease Control.

In one particularly awkward exchange, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) asked Kennedy how he could square his claim that the Covid-19 vaccine is harmful with the secretary’s belief that President Donald Trump deserves a Nobel prize for Operation Warp Speed, which helped develop it.

Polis appeared on Friday’s All In, where the host noted that prominent Democrats and public health experts have called on Kennedy to step down.

“Obviously, many Senate Democrats have called for the resignation of Robert Kennedy Jr, along with a bunch of public health officials, including former directors of the CDC across a variety of administrations, both Republican and Democrat, various professional bodies,” Hayes said. “Do you think he should resign?”

“Well, again, I think the people calling for his resignation, the senators, etc., didn’t vote for him in the first place,” Polis replied. “I obviously supported Joe Biden when he was running against RFK for president. Proud of that. And then obviously, RFK switched over to Trump. I supported Kamala Harris. So, you know, again, I think Democrats in general have a very different direction on health to empower people with the ability to make your own choices, remove barriers to advance medicine.

Polis went on to say the vaccines should be more easily available, but never got around to answering Hayes.

“I’m gonna take that as a no,” Hayes replied. “But Colorado Governor Jared Polis, thank you for joining us
tonight. I appreciate it.”
