Ingraham: Stop Jumping Every Time Terrorist ‘Freaks’ Release Videos

During a Fox & Friends segment on whether the potential terror threat to the Mall of America should cause America to reevaluate public gun policies, conservative radio host Laura Ingraham said Americans should stop freaking out over terrorist groups’ propagandistic maneuvers.

“I don’t think we should jump every time the freaks with the ACE bandages around their faces put out videos,” Ingraham said. “The malls have always been soft targets in this country, since before 9/11. We’re always worried about security at malls.”

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told American shoppers to be extra-vigilant after a video released by the terror group Al Shabbab, which claimed responsibility for an attack on a Nairobi mall two years ago that took dozens of lives, referenced the Mall of America and other targets. However the department later said it was not aware of “any specific, credible plot against the Mall of America or any other domestic commercial shopping center.” (The threat also came just four days before DHS funding is set to expire.)

Ingraham dismissed the terror alert as a “fraud,” and said that the country shouldn’t be spooked so easily.

“We react so emotionally to these videos,” she said. “We should have a clear-headed debate about how to best secure the homeland without changing our way of life. We can’t change our entire way of life.”
