Inmates Taunt, Scream at Members of Congress During Visit to El Salvador Mega-Prison
A bipartisan delegation of Republican and Democratic members of Congress was taunted and screamed at by inmates in the Tren de Aragua ward of El Salvador’s CECOT mega-prison last week.
The delegation – which included Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), and Rep. and Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) – was recorded by One America News (OAN) host and former congressman Matt Gaetz, capturing the loud reaction of the inmates President Donald Trump deported to the prison earlier this year.
While those incarcerated in the MS-13 ward were polite and respectful towards the members of Congress, the inmates in the Tren de Aragua ward – who are being given better treatment under President Trump’s $6 million prison deal with El Salvador – were caught on camera taunting, screaming, and making hand gestures at the representatives.
“What no other news organization has shown you until now is the specific ward at CECOT that holds the Venezuelan-based Tren de Aragua members President Trump deported. See if you can notice them reacting differently,” said Gaetz in his report on Monday, before playing a clip of the inmates shouting and taunting the representatives for several minutes.
He continued, “Americans are paying for the Tren de Aragua incarceration. It’s a bargain at $6 million. For that, El Salvador is actually treating the Venezuelan new arrivals better than their murderous countrymen.”
Gaetz then showed the difference in meals between Trump’s deportees and El Salvador’s native inmates.
While the inmates in the MS-13 ward were fed on just rice and beans, meals in the Tren de Aragua ward included burgers and fries.
