‘It’s All About Her!’ Fox Hosts Rages Maine Secretary Of State Uses ‘I’ Too Much In Ruling to Ban From Ballot
Fox News hosts on Outnumbered raged against Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows (D) over her use of the word “I” too much in her ruling banning former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 presidential ballot.
Bellows, a Democrat, ruled on Thursday that the Republican frontrunner could not run for office in the state “because he is not qualified to hold the office of the President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment.”
During Friday’s Outnumbered, the Fox panel roasted Bellows for her decision, claiming the ruling will be overturned by the Supreme Court and embolden Trump’s candidacy.
“First of all, we have to believe that Shawna Bellows is either ignorant of actually reading two paragraphs in section three of the 14th Amendment, which states quite clearly that it’s an officer of the United States,” said Fox News contributor and the show’s co-host David Webb. “Beyond being no charge of insurrection, which they haven’t proffered, they haven’t prosecuted, they haven’t proven, there’s nothing here.”
The Colorado Supreme Court earlier this month also ruled that Trump’s name could not appear on the 2024 ballot, claiming he engaged in insurrection on January 6th, 2021.
Cheryl Casone agreed with her colleagues, adding that Bellows’ use of the word “I” in her ruling reveals “she’s out of her lane” and “arrogant.” Casone argued:
It’s arrogant and it’s hers. If you look at the statement, Julie, that she put out there when she filed this motion and she’s defending her decision, she says, “I conclude that Mr. Trump used a false narrative of election fraud. I likewise conclude that Mr. Trump was aware of the likelihood for violence and at least initially supported its use.” I mean, this is all about her. I mean, it’s okay. It’s Maine. She’s out of her league. She’s out of her lane. It’s definitely going to the Supreme Court.
They’re going to strike this down. There’s no way they can’t legally. And by the way, that amendment that she’s citing in this, the you mentioned how ludicrous it is. 1868, guys, this is when this was put in the Constitution, the 14th Amendment. Basically, it barred those who had sworn an oath to the Constitution from holding office that they engaged in insurrection. I’m pretty sure Donald Trump was not either charged or convicted of insurrection.
