Jay Carney Dismisses ‘Pretty Lame’ Question About Sebelius

Jay Carney got a bit snippy at Friday’s White House press briefing in response to a question from Sirius XM’s Jared Rizzi about the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and President Obama‘s omission of her name at the big Obamacare “victory lap” speech last week.

Rizzi noted how Obama was “effusive” in his praise of Sebelius today, but when the president spoke on April 1st about hitting the health care deadline with 7.1 million enrollees, he didn’t mention Sebelius by name. Carney insisted nothing was meant by it, and as Rizzi kept pressing him, Carney said, “Boy, that’s pretty lame.”
