Jay Leno: BP Spill Perfect Example Of What Will Happen If Tea Partiers Rule
Rand Paul’s decision to cancel his appearance on Meet the Press this weekend (only the third person ever) may not have backfired exactly but it’s certainly taken on a bit of a life of its own. David Gregory spent the first ten minutes of Sunday’s show looking back at all the missteps of Paul’s first week in the national spotlight, and last night he took to Jay Leno‘s couch.
After a rather uncomfortable lead-in that included hot tub and toilet talk, Gregory revealed that in a note the Paul people had sent to MTP they “initially said he was just tired, exhausted at the end of the week…he didn’t want to be dragged down by the Liberal bias. I really think he just put himself out there in a way that was hurting his campaign.”
Meanwhile Jay Leno wanted to know how come the Tea Partiers are showing up now and not back when the Bush administration was stomping all over the nation’s civil rights? Gregory thinks it’s simply because they’re more organized. But Leno persisted: “BP is the perfect example. BP seems to have done this on their own, they don’t pay attention, they essentially make their own rules, they pay off everybody…that’s what the Tea Party wants. That’s unregulated and look what happened.” MTP should maybe consider Leno as a guest host in the future to remedy their recent ratings dip. Video below. Venus Williams‘ ass makes a guest appearance.
