Jimmy Fallon Kicks Off First Tonight Show with Emotional Welcome, Olympics Jokes
The Tonight Show has officially gone from Allen to Fallon. Jimmy Fallon kicked off his first-ever Tonight Show Monday night with a mostly emotional monologue thanking the previous occupants of that coveted late night throne, his family, and, of course, the fans. He opened with, “I’m Jimmy Fallon, and I’ll be your host. For now.”
Fallon was clearly so overwhelmed at being the host of the long-running NBC institution, talking about how he used to stay up late to watch Johnny Carson and the thought of kids staying up to watch him means a lot to him.
But Fallon quickly moved onto the jokes, which were mostly Olympics-based, and involved Fallon giving out additional awards to Olympians like “most likely to be able to turn water into weed”and “most likely to be Justin Bieber in disguise.”
