Jimmy Kimmel: Gay Marriage Will ‘Totally Ruin Being Gay’
To say that the reactions to last Friday’s Supreme Court ruling on Obergefell v. Hodges have been mixed would be the unquestionable understatement of the year. All you have to do is compare the White House’s rainbow light barrage on Friday to Bill O’Reilly‘s criticism of the display during Monday night’s O’Reilly Factor to get an idea about the divide.
Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel chimed in on the negative reactions to the SCOTUS ruling by giving his own, albeit within the context of a comedy show. His thoughts? “This is going to totally ruin being gay.”
There’s no pressure to settle down. You have really the best possible reason for not getting married — it’s illegal. So if you’re dating a guy and he says, “Why can’t we get married?” You say, “Well, same reason we can’t rob a bank.”
But now that reason is gone.
