Jive Talking: Rick Sanchez Asks Guest About Reid Comments, Obama ‘Jive’

The story of Harry Reid referencing a negro dialect in describing Candidate Obama has been a promotional gold mine for the publisher’s of Game Change, the new book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann chronicling the 2008 presidential campaign. The salacious splendor of the book is sure to be a hot topic for the next week, but some of the details are giving the media fits – best evidenced by CNN’s Rick Sanchez asking guest Tony Blakely about President Obama’s alleged use of ‘jive’

Sanchez took an interesting approach to this story, focusing on the later part of the Reid quote that claimed that Obama spoke in a Negro dialect when he “wants to.” How did Sanchez put it? “When he wants to, Obama can maybe talk jive.”

Blakely responded, “Let me start off by saying I don’t think that people generally should have their careers ended because they say something dumb, or seems to be dumb.”
