Joe Scarborough Gleefully Adds 2023 Results to the GOP’s Losing Streak Under Trump: ‘The Political Heroin of Losing’
Joe Scarborough tore into Donald Trump’s “culture of winning” within the Republican Party by mocking the losses they observed in Tuesday night’s off-year elections.
Democratic Governor Andy Beshear defeated Republican challenger Daniel Cameron to win re-election in Kentucky last night, and Democrats gained ground politically in Ohio and Virginia as well. When Morning Joe started on Wednesday with the Kentucky results, Scarborough marked this as the continuation of disappointing election outcomes the Republican Party has seen for the past few years.
“You look at these primary voters; they don’t really care!” Scarborough exclaimed. “It’s like Donald Trump is the political heroin of losing. You just take a shot of 2016, and you just lie back and smile while your party loses in 2017, ’18, ’19, ’20, 21, ’22, and ’23. And you’re coming back for more in 2024.”
The conversation on Morning Joe continued with a focus on the indicators that the results were driven by public discontent from the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Scarborough used this point to dismiss Democrats’ fears about President Joe Biden’s political chances in light of recent negative polling.
“The political ramifications just keep coming!” Said Scarborough. “Whether it’s in Kansas, whether it’s in Kentucky, whether it’s in Wisconsin. You name it. Everywhere abortion, the rights of women to make health care choices, keep winning in state after state, election after election. At this point, you’d think Republicans would get it. But they don’t.”
