Joe Scarborough Laughs Out Loud as He Mocks ‘Scared’ Texas GOP for ‘Rigging the Maps’

Morning Joe kicked off Wednesday’s show with laughter from host Joe Scarborough, who mocked Texas Republicans for “rigging the maps” because they’re “scared” of being “crushed” by Democrats in the 2026 midterms.

The Texas Republicans’ effort to redraw the state’s congressional map in a bid to flip five Democrat-held seats has sparked fierce backlash.

In a dramatic move to block the vote, a group of Texas Democrats fled to other states, including Illinois and New York — effectively halting the legislative session. In response, Texas issued civil arrest warrants for the lawmakers, while Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) called on the FBI to assist in tracking down and returning the absent members.

As Morning Joe opened on Wednesday, producers rolled back clips of President Donald Trump on CNBC and Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News, pushing the idea as Scarborough could be heard laughing.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski raised her eyebrows, visibly stunned as Scarborough launched into a full-throated mockery of the Texas GOP straight off the mark:

Wait, wait. Okay. The problem is that they’ve lost the vote. No. No, you’re the one who’s rigging the maps because you know you’re going to get crushed. That’s right. Next year. That’s what you’re scared of. You’re scared Democrats are going to crush Republicans.

Who’s lost the voters here? Because that is – it’s hilarious. Not only is it hilarious, it’s so shortsighted because California and other states are just going to come back and do the same thing. So again, I’m not exactly sure what they’re trying to prove, but they’re not going to prove it.
