Karoline Leavitt Dishes Out Ice-Cold Answer on the Death of Dick Cheney

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dished out an ice-cold answer after being asked about the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney on Tuesday.

Cheney passed away earlier that morning from “complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease,” according to his family.

At Tuesday afternoon’s briefing, Leavitt was asked about Cheney’s death by USA Today‘s Francesca Chambers:

CHAMBERS: Last I checked the president still had not commented on the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Is the White House involved in funeral arrangements in any way? Does the president plan to speak at the funeral? Has he spoken to anyone in the Cheney family today? And does the White House have an opinion on whether or not the former vice president should lie in honor, or stay in the Capitol?

LEAVITT: I don’t believe the White House is involved in that planning, or at least haven’t-, hasn’t gotten to it yet. I know the president is aware of the former vice president’s passing. and as you saw flags have been lowered to half-staff in accordance with statutory law.

Cheney’s daughter, Liz Cheney, a former member of Republican leadership in the House, famously broke with Trump after the January 6 Capitol riot. She lost her seat to a Trump-backed primary challenger in 2022, and both her and her father endorsed Kamala Harris last year.

“In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” declared the elder Cheney in a statement. “He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris”

Trump did not take well to the news at the time, writing the following on Truth Social:

Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the History of Congressional Races! They couldn’t get Scooter Libby, who did so much for them (but was so unfairly treated!), PARDONED. I did it! He’s the King of Endless, Nonsensical Wars, wasting Lives and Trillions of Dollars, just like Comrade Kamala Harris.

I am the Peace President, and only I will stop World War III! What Liz Cheney did with the Unselect Committee of Political Losers is unthinkable. She and her Unselects deleted and destroyed all evidence and information – IT’S GONE. Much of it proved that Nancy Pelosi was responsible for J6 – DIDN’T PROVIDE SECURITY. Cheney and the others should be prosecuted for what they did, but Comrade Kamala is even worse!
