Kellyanne Conway Claims ‘Consumer Confidence Going Up’ Hours After Survey Shows It at Lowest Level Since 2022

President Donald Trump’s tariffs have created major uncertainty among businesses and consumers, but Fox News contributor and former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway insisted the president “is winning at every single turn.”

On Friday, the University of Michigan published its monthly survey on consumer sentiment, which dropped 11% this month.

“Many consumers cited the high level of uncertainty around policy and other economic factors; frequent gyrations in economic policies make it very difficult for consumers to plan for the future, regardless of one’s policy preferences,” the survey noted. Consumer confidence is currently at the lowest it’s been since November 2022, and the poll also showed consumers expect inflation to rise. One analyst called it “an horrific report.”

Later on Friday evening, Conway appeared on Fox News’s Hannity, where she praised Trump on all manner of alleged accomplishments and declared that consumer confidence is actually going up.

“He’s trying to broker peace in Ukraine and Russia,” she said. “This week we saw wholesale down, the price of eggs go down, mortgage rates go down, de-reg [sic] go down, consumer confidence going up. Everything is turning up Trump.”

Conway went on to bash Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), even after he voted to advance the Trump-backed spending bill just hours earlier, angering many Democrats.

“And even Chuck Schumer waving the white flag, crying Chuck crying again this time and surrendering to Donald Trump,” Conway added. “He did not say we’re doing this for policy reasons, he said, quote, ‘The political consequences of shutting down the government are even worse for us.’ Those people are all about politics. Donald Trump is all about policies and America-first principles and he’s winning at every single turn.”
