Kim Kardashian on Bruce Jenner’s Transition: ‘We Work out Everything as a Family’

After former Olympic decathlete Bruce Jenner opened up to Diane Sawyer about transitioning from male to female this weekend, Kim Kardashian West talked to Today’s Matt Lauer about the famous family’s adjustment.

“He’s waited 65 years to make this decision,” Kardashian said. “And whether he’s kept it to himself, he’s lived with it. I think when you are finally ready to be your true self then you’re prepared for anything…I don’t know what life would be like if you always felt like you weren’t yourself.”

“We have been talking to people from the GLAAD organization, different organizations on, ‘What do we call him? Do we say him or her? How do we be respectful?'” Kardashian said. “Bruce wants us to feel as comfortable as possible and take everything at our own pace…He’s done a really good job at walking us through it.”

Kardashian addressed Brenner’s transition on social media over the weekend, but spoke more in-depth on Monday. “There have been hundreds of family meetings,” she said. “Say what you want about us, but we work out everything as a family…Each family member might be dealing with this in a different way, but we have each other to go through this experience with.”
