Laura Ingraham Gives Optimistic Charlie Kirk Bad News About Trump-Musk Split: Insider Says ‘It Is Irreparable’
Fox News host Laura Ingraham said a person in the know told her that the rift between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk is “irreparable.”
The president and his former head of the “Department of Government Efficiency” had a very public spat on Thursday, amid Musk’s ongoing broadsides against a Trump-backed spending bill in Congress that Musk called “a disgusting abomination.”
In a Truth Social post, Trump said Musk was “wearing thin” and that he asked the Tesla CEO to leave the government and that Musk “went CRAZY.” The president went so far as to suggest he would cancel federal contracts with Musk’s companies. At one point, Musk claimed Trump is in the files of deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Many conservatives spent the day anguished on social media as they watched two of their favorite public figures feud openly. Ingraham began Thursday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle with a lengthy monologue that praised both men, but she nonetheless reminded Musk that Trump is the president. She then welcomed Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who said he hopes the two will overcome their differences.
“President Donald Trump built this movement for 10 years,” Kirk said. “His supporters are not going anywhere. I hope that Elon and Trump reconcile. It would be good forever the country and to do so privately.”
“Well, I talked to an insider today who said it’s irreparable,” the host replied. “That was the line. It is irreparable. But you know, look, Donald Trump will sit down with anybody. So, it’s probably not irreparable on Trump’s side. But Elon Musk, again, you run your own kingdom at your companies… but look, Donald Trump’s in charge. And Congress is Congress. So, you have to deal with the reality of what you have in front of you. Trump’s a realist.”
Elsewhere on her Thursday show, Ingraham sounded a more optimistic note about the future of the relationship. At one point, she said, “I think they just need to cool a rhetoric for a week, let some people intermediate, broker a peace, and it will be OK.”
