Lawrence Jones Mocks ‘Tone Deaf’ Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis Claiming to Be More Electable Than Trump: ‘That’s Not Working!’
Fox News’ Lawrence Jones accused Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis of “tone deafness” while scoffing at their arguments that they are more electable than Donald Trump.
Jones beamed into Fox & Friends from Iowa on Tuesday as the show covered the former president’s decisive win in the Hawkeye state’s caucuses. As Jones determined that Trump voters are now “essentially the base of the Republican Party,” he questioned how Haley and DeSantis will connect with those voters now when they haven’t already.
“It’s a question that frustrates them so often, but it is issues like the border, like the economy, that they remember the Trump years,” said Jones. “And it seems to me that the candidates now, you know, they complain about us. They complain about the media coverage; they do more interviews than Donald Trump. They show up to the debates. But Donald Trump shows up for the people that are going to cast their vote.”
After determining that Trump’s rivals will have to change the delivery of their message to stay in the primary race, Jones particularly took issue with their claims of electability.
That’s not working with these folks. It can’t be just electability. What are you going to do to benefit their life better than Donald Trump? Electability is out of the window. And if your argument is that he’s going to be prosecuted, he may not be on the ballot, Trump voters double down. And they say if they’re going to do that, that means they are taking my vote away. I just find with Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, even though they both have records to run on, there is a tone deafness to the people that are going to be casting votes. Yesterday was not a surprise.
As Trump pursues re-election this year, his campaign will be bogged down by his upcoming legal battles as he faces indictment over his alleged unlawful hush money payments, mishandling of classified documents, and multiple attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat.
