MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell Apologizes To RNC’s Michael Steele For ‘Master’ Comment
Tonight on The Last Word, Lawrence O’Donnell turned to an interesting subject for his “Rewrite” segment – himself. The reason: O’Donnell’s introduction to his interview with Michael Steele last night. Both O’Donnell and Steele enjoyed the interview itself (as did we), but Steele took exception to one part of the introduction (which was filmed after the interview). Upon further reflection, so did O’Donnell.
In that intro, O’Donnell referred to the Republican National Committee as Steele’s “master,” the potential unfortunate implications of which should be obvious. Steele called O’Donnell about it today and left a (calm, measured) voicemail which clearly got the point across – O’Donnell played the message on the show and offered a genuine, sincere apology, and relayed Steele’s assurance that he will be back on The Last Word in the future. Compelling TV, and as always, nice to see adults work out differences like…adults. Video of the segment below.
