Lindsey Graham Appears on Fox News to Urge Trump to Join War Against Iran: ‘Help Israel Finish the Job’
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) used a Tuesday appearance on Fox News to urge President Donald Trump to “help” Israel to “finish the job” against Iran.
Graham called Iran an “existential threat” to Israel and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei a “religious Nazi” while urging the president to get more involved in the growing conflict. Trump has hinted at the United States taking a more active role in recent days as Israel and Iran bomb one another. The president said the United States military “could get involved,” as he insisted Iran was “close” to a nuclear weapon despite Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testifying the opposite in March.
Graham argued:
I have said from the very beginning, it is in our national security interest to make sure Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon. They are an existential threat to our friends in Israel. They really do mean ‘death to Israel,’ but they also mean ‘death to America.’
There’s no doubt in my mind that if the Ayatollah had a nuclear weapon, he would use it to destroy Israel as part of his religious agenda. His religious agenda includes purifying Islam, going after Sunni Saudi Arabia, destroying the Jewish state, and coming after us because we are infidels. He is literally a religious Nazi.
According to a New York Times report on Tuesday detailing Trump’s evolving stance on Israel and Iran, the president is “seriously considering” providing air support to Israel and dropping bombs on Iran’s Fordo nuclear site. Trump’s stance on Iran has led to a split among MAGA faithful, with some arguing for far more aggressive actions while others, like Tucker Carlson, are against the United States getting more involved.
“It is my belief that President Trump understands the threat the ayatollah presents to us, not just Israel, and that he will, at the end of the day, help Israel finish the job. That will require, I think, weapons that Israel doesn’t possess and may be joint military operations,” Graham said.
The senator was also asked about a Tuesday Truth Social post from the president in which he referred to Iran’s Supreme Leader as an “easy target.”
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” the president wrote.
Graham stopped short of a full-throated endorsement of killing the Ayatollah, but said he trusts the president and wants to see the current regime “fall.”
“This regime has been repressing their people, trying to destroy Israel and have American blood on their hands,” he said. “I hope it’s eliminated. I would like to see this regime fall, but I’m going to leave it up to the president as to what to do and when to do it.”
