Luke Russert Blames ‘Epitome of Dysfunction’ Senate on Mitch McConnell

Guest hosting on MSNBC’s NOW Tuesday, congressional correspondent Luke Russert said the perpetual gridlock on Capitol Hill is largely caused by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

“The Senate has been where ideas go to die,” Russert said during a segment debating the ramifications of the November midterm elections. “It is the epitome of dysfunction. That has been the way mostly due to Mitch McConnell’s choosing and the animosity between him and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid. They [Republicans] want to block, block, block as much as possible.”

Russert did not elaborate on which bills McConnell’s fellow Republicans in the House have sent his way to kill in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
