Matthews: GOPers Who Refused to Back McCarthy Did ‘Extraordinary Mutinous’ Thing
Chris Matthews ended his show tonight by tearing into the Republicans who pushed Kevin McCarthy to step out of the Speaker election, calling them incredibly “mutinous.”
He said the basic thing any political party should be able to do is choose a leader and “loyalty” should trump all else. But as far as Matthews is concerned, the conservatives who refused to back him are willing to threaten stop everything and block everybody just so they get their way.
He warned of threats to the government and economy because of a potentially nervous Speaker “following the hard right’s orders to shut everything down.”
