Megyn Kelly Grills School Spox Over Pro-Trans Student Ruling: What Is Your Objection?
Megyn Kelly repeatedly tried tonight to get a superintendent for the school at the center of a ruling about trans students to say exactly what their objections are.
The Department of Education ruled today that an Illinois school district must allow a transgender student who was born male to share locker and shower space with female athletes. The school attempted to compromise by setting up “privacy curtains” for the student, but the government concluded it was discriminatory.
District 211 Superintendent Dr. Daniel Cates repeatedly told Kelly tonight that they honor trans students and trans identity, but they just want to create a “protective” environment.
Kelly asked him, “What are you worried will happen?” He reiterated the same points about protecting student privacy, but Kelly repeatedly tried to get him to be a little more blunt about what exactly the issue is.
At one point, Kelly told Cates this is cable news, not a school board hearing, and tried to get him to elaborate more. But he simply insisted the ruling is wrong and they will fight it.
