Miss USA 2015 on Trump: ‘We Have a Right to Free Speech’

 

misusaMiss USA 2015 proclaimed to Fox & Friends Tuesday morning that former pageant host Donald Trump had a right to express his opinion about immigration, but said she and the other contestants tried to stay focused on the pageant during the unexpected controversy.

“It was just a situation that Donald Trump is running for president,” Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan said, putting it exactly a the political press corps does. “Certainly we have a right to free speech. Everyone should share opinions and talk about hot topic issues. Immigration is certainly a hot topic issue. We were just working on having a great pageant.”

The Miss USA Pageant became a surprise political prop this month when Univision and NBC dropped the event after Trump’s comments about Mexican immigrants being rapists and murderers. The pageant wound up on Reelz, a cable network.

“I’m sure it was one of [Reelz’s] highest rated programs in history,” host Steve Doocy said. Not so much.
