MTG Scolded By GOP Committee Chair For Refusing to Call Fauci ‘Doctor’ and Calling For His Jailing in WILD Hearing Clash
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was reprimanded by the GOP committee chair after she refused to refer to Anthony Fauci as a doctor as an insult to his work during Covid-19.
Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, testified before Congress on Monday to dispel rumors about the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Greene has been a vocal critic of Fauci, which was apparent in her grilling of the former health official, perhaps best evidenced by her refusal to call him Dr. Fauci.
After a series of pointed and largely baseless attacks, Greene asked, “Do the American people deserve to be abused like that, Mr. Fauci? Because you’re not, doctor; you’re Mr. Fauci in my few minutes.” As Fauci tried to reply without having turned his microphone on, Taylor Greene added, “No, I don’t need your answer.”
This launched a series of points of order and calls for decorum from largely Democratic members of the subcommittee, and Dr. Brad Wenstrup, the Republican chair of the hearing, repeated inserting himself to reprimand Greene, who continued to hector Fauci before ending her time by calling for his imprisonment.
