Must-See Late Night Clip: Dana Carvey Performs ‘Choppin’ Broccoli’ with an Orchestra

Dana Carvey was Jimmy Fallon’s guest on the Tonight Show last night, and at the end of their interview, he said he had a song he’d been working on that he wanted to share with the audience. He wasn’t quite sure he had all the lyrics down yet, but since Fallon’s show tends to be “loose” and fun, he thought he’d give it a shot.

When he returned, the audience was treated to the song that has somehow become a cornerstone of his comedy career: “Choppin’ Broccoli,” complete with backing from a live orchestra. The song has been an instant classic since Carvey first performed the song in October of 1986 on Saturday Night Live.
