Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Mocks David Muir Clothespin Controversy: ‘How Do I Look?’

Newsmax host Greg Kelly mocked ABC News anchor David Muir on Thursday by showing off his own jacket covered in clothespins.

After Muir received backlash for using a clothespin on the back of his jacket to look better as he reported on the ground in wildfire-stricken California, Kelly criticized the anchor on his show Greg Kelly Reports.

“This is David Muir. You’re familiar, right? See how his arms are out there like that, like he’s trying to show off or something?” said Kelly. “Like he’s, I don’t know, he’s posing, right? Well, we all saw in spectacular fashion just how vain this guy is.”

The Newsmax host then played a viral clip of Muir accidentally revealing a clothespin on the back of his jacket as he covered the destruction of the Southern California wildfires on Wednesday.

“What’s that? That’s a little clip to make his raincoat tighter so he looks more buff,” Kelly reacted. “Can you believe that? That’s actually what happened. A jacket clipped in the back. Have you ever seen this? I’ve seen it in department stores, actually.”

He continued, “David Muir, a news man, is going out of his way to make sure that he looks good in a disaster zone, right? It’s so crazy,” before adding, “However, it’s not a bad little tip, right? How do I look right now, hm? Am I alright? Take it full, take it full. Want to know the secret?”

Kelly then turned to his side, revealing several clothespins attached to the back of his jacket.

“It works. It’s actually a pretty good tip,” he concluded.

A source familiar with Muir’s on-the-ground report, Wednesday claimed that the clothespin was affixed to the anchor’s jacket to stop it blowing in the wind.

“This was 30 seconds before air, a producer stepped in to try to fix coat in the wind,” they said. “This had nothing to do with David Muir asking for anything.”
