NYPD Commissioner: Hoax School Threat Appears to Based Off Plot of Homeland
In a press conference explaining why New York City officials were not taking a threat against city schools seriously, NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton told reporters that the threat appeared to be based on the plot of the Showtime series Homeland.
“Actually, in reviewing it, I think that the instigator, the initiator of the threat may have been a Homeland fan, basically watching Homeland episodes,” he said. “It mirrors a lot of recent episodes of Homeland.”
Although Los Angeles schools shut down entirely after receiving a similar threat, Bratton again reiterated that “we are very comfortable, to the people watching the newscast, it is not a credible threat. It is not something that we are concerned with.”
