President Obama Explains Why He Decided to Attend Baseball Game in Cuba Despite Brussels
President Obama has been spending the past few days in Cuba as part of a historic trip, but with the Brussels terror attack today, some are wondering if the President needs to reassess immediate priorities.
And, in fact, President Obama did an interview with ESPN this afternoon where he addressed that very issue. He was asked-–while at a stadium in Cuba where a baseball game was taking place––if he considered not attending the game so he could focus on the response to the attack.
This was the President’s answer:
“It’s always a challenge when you have a terrorist attack anywhere in the world, particularly in this age of 24/7 news coverage. You want to be respectful and understand the gravity of the situation, but the whole premise of terrorism is to try to disrupt people’s ordinary lives.”
