Obama Speechless After Hearing Jeb Bush ‘Stuff Happens’ Quote

Less than an hour after The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza effectively broke the political internet by posting the quote below from Jeb Bush, ABC News’ Jonathan Karl was asking President Barack Obama to respond during a press conference at the White House.

Quoting Bush, Karl posed the following question to Obama” “Asked about the drive to take action in light of what happened in Oregon, he said, ‘Look, stuff happens. there’s always a crisis. And the impulse is always to do something and it’s not always the right thing to do.’ How would you react to Governor Bush?”

Watch video below, via CNN:

Obama, who clearly had not yet heard the quote from Bush, paused before saying, “I don’t even think I have to react to that one.”

After another few seconds of silence, he added, “I think the American people should hear that and make their own judgments based on the fact that every couple of months we have a mass shooting… and they can decide whether they consider that stuff happening.”

UPDATE –– 6:00 pm EST: The Bush campaign fired back in a statement decrying the response from Democrats and the media as “sad and beyond craven.”
