‘Oh My God’: Morning Joe Hosts Lose It with Carville over Hillary Story
Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski again hosted Democratic strategist James Carville Wednesday morning to ask him about further developments in the Hillary Clinton email story. Carville, a longtime Clinton family deputy, has been one of Clinton’s main defenders in the press, though at times he has appeared to make things worse for her.
Carville reiterated his main point: that the Clinton are always accused of scandal, and they always end up being much ado about nothing. “At the end of the day, I predict this whole thing is going to amount to diddly squat,” he said.
Scarborough reiterated that the Clintons’ suspicious retention of evidence, as demonstrated by Clinton’s deleting emails off her server, always played a role in their exoneration, which was the point here.
“You say there was nothing there. [The Whitewater files] exonerated her,” Scarborough replied. “We don’t know, because they disappeared for two years and magically showed up…Give me the records for two years to play around with, they’ll would exonerate me, too.”
Carville also invoked former Secretary of State Colin Powell, whom Clinton defenders say handled his emails in much the same way, getting a weary “Oh my god” from Brzezinski.
The hosts also objected when Carville brought up the number of Benghazi investigations that had already failed to find the State Department’s smoking gun on the 2012 Libya attack. “You always try to generalize instead of talk in specifics,” Scarborough objected. “You’re generalizing because you don’t want to talk about the specifics of this case. You’ve done this since 1992.”
