Paula Broadwell Has Her Security Clearance Revoked As Investigation Continues
CNN reported that Paula Broadwell, the journalist and biographical writer who has become the center of a military scandal involving her extramarital affair with her subject Gen. David Petraeus, has lost all military security clearances as the FBI investigation continues into the scandal.
Correspondent Paula Wolf reported to Situation Room host Wolf Blitzer that despite being a serving reservist, Broadwell’s security clearance has been suspended pending the outcome of several investigations.
Wolf then recalled the video from several days ago that showed FBI agents exiting Broadwell’s North Carolina home with boxes full of documents, potentially including classified information. She then surmised:
When someone with a security clearance has classified information in their home, there are critical questions afoot: Do they have reason to have it? Is it a need-to-know basis? Does it relate to their professional work with the military for that security clearance? And are they appropriately protecting that information? They must have authority to take it out of a military base. They must have authority to have it in their home. And they must protect it. We know that these are the key questions, the critical questions being asked. We also now know her security clearance has been suspended.
