Ricky Gervais Channels House of Cards’ Frank Underwood for Netflix Emmys Ad

Netflix is gearing up to have a big night on Monday, especially if it manages to take home the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy for Orange Is the New Black. The streaming service came out of the gate looking confident, airing the ad below during the Emmy broadcast’s first hour.

In the ad, Ricky Gervais, himself a Netflix star on Derek, takes on the role of Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood alongside House of Cards’ Michael Kelly, playing his role of Doug Stamper.

Extolling the virtues of binge-watching, Gervais proceeds to enter the world of Lilyhammer with Steve Van Zandt and finally the prison of Orange Is the New Black, where he is confronted by Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) and Danielle Brooks (Taystee).

“Shoot, that’s an ugly bearded lady-man.”
