Sen. Tim Scott Says He Hasn’t Watched the Jan. 6 Hearings, Declares ‘Of Course’ He’d Support Trump in 2024
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) revealed on Tuesday’s edition of Special Report with Bret Baier that he hasn’t watched the ongoing Jan. 6 committee hearings into the 2021 Capitol riot.
Earlier in the day, several Republican elected officials testified that former President Donald Trump pressured them to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in their respective states he had lost. Trump’s team also tried to advance slates of fraudulent electors for the purpose of certifying the election in his favor.
“Have you learned anything new?” Baier asked Scott. “Is it troubling to you – number two – and can you support Donald Trump if he runs for president in 2024?”
The senator replied that he has not bothered watching and pivoted to inflation.
“Well, Bret, I have not taken the time to watch the hearings,” he responded. “I feel like the best use of my time is fighting the inflationary effects and looking for ways to push back for the American consumer. I spend my time talking about the gas prices and ways that we can reduce it.”
Scott reiterated he hasn’t watched the hearings.
“I was actually in the Senate when it happened. So I don’t need an education on what actually happened,” he continued. “I do think what we are seeing is made for TV. What you haven’t seen is any cross-examination. So, we’re having people lay out stories without having the cross-examination. I think if President Trump is the nominee, of course, we support him.”
