South Park Creators Reveal How They Got NSFW Trump Gag Past Standards Execs

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone revealed Thursday how they managed to skirt Comedy Central’s broadcast standards department to avoid having to blur out President Donald Trump’s now-infamous animated micropenis in the show’s most recent episode.

In the latest episode, Trump is portrayed rampaging through the fictional town of South Park and the legal system, brandishing lawsuits like weapons. But it’s the grotesque, graphic satire of the president, culminating in a talking micropenis with googly eyes.

The show ends with a naked Trump collapsing during a desert hallucination as a tiny, sentient penis pokes out to say: “I’m Donald J. Trump and I endorse this message.” A voiceover then offers a final jab: “Trump. His penis is teeny tiny, but his love for us is large.”

The creators revealed at a Comic-Con panel on Thursday how they got the crude gag past network censors when Comedy Central threatened to “blur the penis” in the final scene.

“I was like, ‘No you’re not going to blur the penis,'” Parker explained to a laughing audience.

“We put eyes on the penis,” Stone added.

“If we put eyes on the penis, [they] won’t blur it,” he continued. “And then that was a whole conversation with a lot of grown-up people for about four fucking days.”

“‘Cause then it’s a character,” Parker added, with mock sincerity.

The host joked: “You should know I have a subpoena for you tonight.”

“That’s all right man, I’m ready,” Parker replied, to cheers from the audience.

The episode aired just days after Paramount finalized a $1.5 billion streaming rights deal with Parker and Stone. That deal came on the heels of Paramount’s $16 million settlement with Trump over a 60 Minutes interview featuring then-Vice President Kamala Harris in an agreement that Trump now claims is worth over $36 million, including promotional airtime, which Paramount denied.
