Steve Doocy Asks Kellyanne Why Trump Hired John Bolton Despite Hating His Mustache
There was a bit of a moment on Fox & Friends today after Kellyanne Conway appeared and talked about President Donald Trump‘s decision to bring Fox News commentator John Bolton into his administration.
The White House shake-up moved into its next stage last night after Trump announced that Bolton, a former ambassador to the U.N., would replace H.R. McMaster as national security adviser. Bolton’s hawkishness is bound to have considerable implications for foreign policy, but Steve Doocy slightly digressed on that when he brought up old reports that Trump didn’t hire Bolton before because he hates the Fox contributor’s very prominent mustache.
“Kellyanne, we’re confused though. Because we’ve been reading news reports that when the president was first assembling his crew, his cabinet, he was considering John Bolton maybe for secretary of state. But according to the Washington Post, the president does not like guys with mustaches. And John Bolton’s got a mustache.”
“That is way too glib and unimportant for me to address,” Conway replied through snickers. “The president has never discussed that in my presence.”
Of course, things got back on track when everyone started to bash “someone on the other channel” — presumably CNN’s Brian Stelter — for writing Bolton off as a “talking head.”
“The irony is not lost on me that you have a lot of ‘TV stars’ calling Larry Kudlow and John Bolton TV stars,” Conway remarked.
