‘Stop It’: Robert Reich Scolds Trump for ‘Thin-Skinned Vindictiveness’ on Twitter

Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich delivered a message directly to President-elect Donald Trump tonight in response to his tweet criticizing the Carrier union leader who said he “lied his ass off” about those saved jobs.

“With all due respect, Mr. Trump,” Reich said, “you are President-elect of the United States. You are looking and acting as if you are mean and petty, thin-skinned and vindictive. Stop this. This is not a fireside chat. This is not what FDR did. This isn’t lifting people up. This is actually penalizing people for speaking their minds.”

He expressed concern about the precedent of Trump lashing out at anyone and everyone who criticizes him, surmising that Trump would like “no one, not a CEO, nobody on television, no journalist, nobody” to criticize him.

And Reich was particularly worried about what Trump’s “thin-skinned vindictiveness” could lead to once he’s president.
