Tara Palmeri Warns Elon Musk Productivity Email ‘Exposes Entire Federal System’ to ‘Foreign Adversaries’
Puck journalist Tara Palmeri has warned that the Elon Musk productivity email sent to federal employees over the weekend poses a “national security threat” that could “expose” the “entire federal system” and be exploited by foreign adversaries.
On Saturday, federal employees across agencies received an eyebrow-raising email from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) demanding they list five things they accomplished over the past week by midnight Monday — or risk losing their jobs. While the email itself made no mention of termination, Musk, who is leading the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said on X that “failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”
At least three major agencies told their employees to ignore the email entirely, raising questions about whether Musk’s mandate carries any legal weight. FBI Director Kash Patel told his staff to “pause any responses,” emphasizing that all internal reviews would be conducted through standard FBI procedures.
The State Department echoed that stance, with an official telling workers they were not obligated to report their activities outside their department’s chain of command. Even the Pentagon weighed in, publicly posting on X that it — not Musk — was responsible for personnel reviews.
Meanwhile, Palmeri took to her YouTube channel to share information from a source explaining that the mass email could expose the entire government structure to scammers and foreign adversaries like China:
Okay, so I just got off the phone with the source who explained to me even more so why this Elon Musk email is a national security threat.
By making these federal employees respond to the email, one email address, and cc their bosses, their superiors, they’re basically laying out a whole map of the federal government that could be mined by foreign adversaries, by scammers. You know, you finally figure out who reports to who, and then you pretend to be the boss, the HR department, tell people to transfer money here and there. It’s exactly what the Chinese government has been trying to do for a very long time. They have dossiers on who does what. Then you cross-reference it with LinkedIn, and you’re basically exposing foreign governments and adversaries and scammers to our entire federal system.
So you can see why cabinet secretaries who were confirmed by Donald Trump, like Kash Patel for the FBI and Tulsi Gabbard for DNI were like, do not respond to this email. This is a huge national security risk.
