‘That’s Enough’: Trump Cuts Off Person Talking Over U.K. Prime Minister During Presser
President Donald Trump abruptly cut off someone who attempted to talk over U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a joint press conference at the White House on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Trump announced he will move forward with tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico beginning on March 4 because he said the two countries should do more to stop fentanyl from coming into the U.S.
Trump reiterated the false claim that exporters pay tariffs, which are actually paid by the importing businesses, the costs of which are then typically passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices.
One reporter asked the president why he thinks this, but Trump simply restated his belief. The reporter also asked Starmer about Trump’s alleged ambitions for Canada, which he has called the “51st state,” and suggested that it should join the U.S.
“Did you discuss with President Trump his repeated statements of desire to annex Canada?” the reporter asked of the Commonwealth nation. “And has [King Charles III] expressed any concern over the president’s apparent desire to remove one of his realms from his control?
“Look, we had a really good discussion, a productive discussion, a good discussion, as a result of which our teams are now gonna be working together on an economic deal,” Starmer replied. “Our team is gonna be working together on security in Ukraine. You mentioned Canada. I think you’re trying to find a divide between us that doesn’t exist. We’re the closest of nations, and we had very good discussions today, but we didn’t discuss–”
As Starmer wrapped up his response, someone could be heard speaking over the prime minister.
“That’s enough,” Trump interjected.
“Canada,” Starmer said, finishing his thought.
