The View‘s Joy Behar Quickly Backtracks After Saying Tucker Carlson Should Be ‘Tied Up and Put in the Corner’

Joy Behar promptly walked back a comment she made on The View that Fox News host Tucker Carlson should be “tied up and put in a corner” for downplaying the storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Behar and her colleagues kicked off their show on Wednesday by discussing the Senate’s hearing over the security failures and other factors behind the Jan. 6 insurrection where Donald Trump’s supporters violently invaded the Capitol in order to overturn the election. The conversation quickly shifted to Senator Josh Hawley’s (R-MO) refusal to accept any accountability for his conduct on the day of the riot, plus Senator Ron Johnson’s (R-WI) promotion of false flag conspiracy theories.

Sunny Hostin invoked Carlson — voicing her disgust for Carlson’s recent claim that there was “no evidence” that white supremacists were responsible for the Capitol riot.

“How dare he say there was no evidence of white supremacy there?” She said. “There was evidence everywhere.”

Behar followed up, and had this to say:

Tucker Carlson needs to be tied up and put in the corner somewhere so we never hear from him again. I have a couple of questions. It’s, like, there’s no logic to what he’s saying, Ron. Why would liberals disguise themselves as supporters to protest an election they just won? According to him, Nancy Pelosi planned death threats against herself, then she broke into her own office to pose for selfies. None of this makes sense. He’s making Marjorie Taylor Greene look normal.

As Whoopi Goldberg moved to close out the segment shortly after, Behar raised her hand and asked if she could “correct something.”

“I don’t mean to imply that anything harmful should happen to Tucker Carlson,” Behar said. “I just want him to stop saying stupid things, that’s all. I don’t like to be perceived as someone who is violent in any way. I’m not.”
