The View’s Joy Behar Warns Trump Will Use the National Guard to ‘Stop the Next Election’
The View co-host Joy Behar predicted Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s use of the National Guard could come into play during the 2028 election.
On Tuesday’s episode of the show, the panel was discussing Trump’s use of federal troops and agencies in American cities. The president began with the deployment of National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. in an effort to reduce crime. He’s since done the same with Chicago, and also planned to send troops to Portland, Oregon, before a judge blocked the deployment.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin acknowledged that crime is an issue in the U.S.’s big cities, but was critical of that way the president has gone about handling that issue.
“It’s not the way to address the problem if it even is as significant as it is,” Griffin said. “There is crime in American cities; but the way to deal with it is get the funding that you need for police, get the training that you need, and work with local officials.”
Behar then suggested that Trump had an ulterior motive to make federal troops a regular sight in American cities.
“This is a pretext to stop the next election,” Behar said. “That’s what I think it is.”
