‘There’s No One Even Close!’ CNN’s Harry Enten Reveals Favorite to Win 2028 GOP Presidential Nomination
CNN’s Harry Enten provided a definitive answer as to who is the favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2028 during a segment on Thursday morning.
“Let’s talk about JD Vance and the 2028, where does he stand on this?” anchor Kate Bolduan asked Enten to kick off their conversation on CNN News Central.
“You know, I’m gonna quote the esteemed scholar Larry David and say, pretty, pretty good. What are we talking about right here? Well, why don’t we take a look here? Look, this is early polling, but look for the GOP nomination it’s JD Vance at 40%. There’s no one even close to him! Ron DeSantis back at single digits at eight. Donald Trump Jr. back at seven percent. And I know Kate Bolduan will say, ‘Harry, it’s so early. It’s too early to look at the polling,'” began Enten. “But keep in mind that early favorites have actually gone on to win the nomination 63% of the time, those who have run since 1980. And when you’re dealing with fields that are five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, upwards of north of 20, and all of a sudden you’re telling me that the early poll leader who is JD Vance, that those win more than 50% of time, that is why I say it looks pretty gosh darn good, or pretty, pretty good for the man from Ohio.”
Enten went on to note the success that incumbent vice presidents have enjoyed when pursuing their party’s nomination, as well as to stress how much it would mean to Vance to secure President Donald Trump’s endorsement.
“If Donald Trump decides to get behind his vice president, this GOP nomination fight in 2028 is likely, adios amigos over. JD Vance is very much likely going be the GOP nominee, which is what the polling says, and what history says as well. At this point, things all seem to be coming up for JD,” he concluded.
