Trump Asks Cruz for Apology at Debate for Going After His Sister
Donald Trump was asked tonight about the Supreme Court and religious liberty, and he immediately pivoted to attacking Ted Cruz.
Instead of answering Hugh Hewitt‘s specific question about defending religious liberty, Trump insulted Cruz and said he’s too unpopular to make deals.
He even brought up how Cruz has criticized him for suggesting (Trump says it was in jest) he’d appoint his sister––a liberal––to the Supreme Court. He said that his sister signed the same bill that Justice Samuel Alito did, saying, “I think that maybe we should get a little bit of an apology from Ted. What do you think?”
Cruz answered, “Let me tell you right now, Donald, I will not apologize for a minute for defending the Constitution. I will not apologize for defending the Bill of Rights.”
