Trump Implies Zelensky Coached Ukrainian Reporter on Tomahawk Question: ‘Exactly as He Told You to Say It’

President Donald Trump implied that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky coached a reporter to ask a question about the U.S. potentially providing Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles during a Friday Q&A at the White House, quipping that the question was “exactly as he [Zelensky] told you to say it.”

“Russia calls Tomahawk supplies for Ukraine an escalation,” the journalist began, before Trump interrupted him, asking, “Yeah, who are you with?” The reporter then identified himself as Ukrainian. “You’re Ukraine? Good,” said Trump.

The journalist went on to ask Trump if he’s considered “providing Ukraine with Tomahawk or similar missiles,” to which Trump responded, “Yeah. Sure. We’re gonna be talking about that. That’s why we’re here, okay? Fair question. Exactly as he told you to say it. But we’re gonna be talking about it, okay?”

Ahead of Friday’s Q&A, Zelensky wrote on X that he was “grateful to President Trump for our dialogue and his support” and that his visit to Washington would focus on “air defense and our long-range capabilities aimed at exerting pressure on Russia for the sake of peace.”

Notably, Trump had a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, writing on Truth Social that the call was “a very productive one” and that the two leaders would soon meet in Budapest, Hungary. He then promised to discuss his call with Putin with Zelensky in the Oval Office on Friday.
