Trump Suggests Judge in Trump University Case Is Biased Because He’s Hispanic

trumpThe attacks on Trump University from his rivals seem to be rattling Donald Trump, as he spent quite a bit of time at a rally today insisting his university was not a scam and downplaying the lawsuit against him.

For a quick summation: Trump U started in 2005 and ran for a few years with the promise of helping people learn about real estate and business from The Donald himself. Some people who signed up complained it was a scam and have filed a lawsuit against Trump for ripping them off.

Trump insisted today he’s won much of the case, saying that “we have a very hostile judge.” And then he actually said this:

“The judge should have thrown the case out on summary judgment. But because it was me and because there’s a hostility toward me by the judge, tremendous hostility, beyond belief––I believe he happens to be Spanish, which is fine, he’s Hispanic, which is fine, and we haven’t asked for a recusal, which we may do, but we have a judge who’s very hostile.”

Trump is presumably referring to US District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who ruled back in July that Trump must disclose his net worth in a case involving the people who sued Trump U for being a scam.
