Twitter Goes Nuts for Rhode Island’s DNC Calamari Shout-Out
The DNC convention roll call was much different than normal, for obvious reasons, with people in all 50 states and U.S. territories featured as they cast their votes to officially nominate Joe Biden.
There were a lot of nice moments and little touches people enjoyed, but one standout moment was a very direct message and visual from Rhode Island state representative Joseph McNamara.
“Rhode Island, the Ocean State, where our restaurant and fishing industry have been decimated by this pandemic, are lucky to have a governor, Gina Raimondo, whose program lets our fisherman sell their catches directly to the public, and our state appetizer calamari is available in all 50 states. The calamari comeback state of Rhode Island casts 1 vote for Bernie Sanders and 34 votes for the next president, Joe Biden,” he said.
And sometimes a direct message like that is all it takes to go viral:

If you’re wondering who was standing there with the plate of calamari, it was Iggy’s executive chef John Bordieri.
