‘Ugh, Flub’: Jake Tapper and Brooke Baldwin’s CNN Segment Takes a Terribly Wrong Turn

 

CNN anchors Brooke Baldwin and Jake Tapper had an uh-oh Monday night, requiring them to restart a segment on the multi-presidential plane flight to Nelson Mandela’s funeral.

At 11:36, the network aired a pre-taped segment of Baldwin throwing to Tapper to discuss the trip in which four former presidents flew to South Africa on Air Force One, but Tapper had been cued up to discuss a former trip involving Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, producing a non-sequitur.

“Hang on, Tapper,” Baldwin said, when she realized he was on the wrong bit.

A long pause followed, after which Tapper’s countdown back in can be heard on-air, which he didn’t appear too pleased about. The taped interview, with mess-up included, aired in its entirety.
