Viewers Go Nuts When Local Station Cuts Away from End of World Cup

With five minutes left in Sunday’s World Cup final, WENY in Elmira, NY cut away for breaking news about the weather.

In fairness, the station did cut away for a tornado warning (which had been running on the bottom scroll throughout the game). Germany had already scored what turned out to be the winning (and only) goal, but Argentina still had five minutes and change to even it out.

Needless to say, Elmira’s soccer fans were not pleased:
