WATCH: Emotional Moment Israeli Hostage Calls His Mother Before Release
Viral footage shows the emotional call between Tami Breslavsky, mother of Israeli hostage Rom Breslavsky, and her son on video call as both waited for his release by Hamas.
In the clip, Tami Breslavsky can be seen in tears, shouting with joy as family members crowd around to see her son’s face. Rom Breslavsky, who was released hours later, can be seen flanked by Hamas fighters in the video as he called from Gaza.
He was part of a second group of 13 hostages released into Israeli custody as part of President Donald Trump’s peace deal. An initial group of 7 hostages was freed earlier Monday.
Speaking to Israeli outlet Ynet, she said: “I told him how much I love him, that he is my soul. Two of his captors stood next to him. He smiled and was emotional. May this miracle happen already. We’ve been waiting for so long, we must see him already.”
“When I saw Rom talking to me, I have no words to describe the feeling,” she added. “It’s truly a miracle. I’m waiting to see him alive, healthy, and whole.”
Other hostages were permitted to make calls to their anxiously waiting families.
The brief communication marks a rare moment amid tense ceasefire negotiations brokered by regional mediators. It follows similar calls granted to several other Israeli hostages, including Matan Angrest, who spoke with his mother and girlfriend for the first time in two years after he was freed earlier on Monday.
The footage of hostages speaking with family members is seen by some in Israel as a bid by Hamas to project control.
