Watch ESPN Accidentally Cut to Commercial At Literally the Worst Possible Moment in a Basketball Game
Oof. Get your act together, ESPN.
Wednesday night, just as Josh Hart was set to attempt a game-winning shot for the Los Angeles Lakers with less than one second left in their match-up with the San Antonio Spurs, ESPN suddenly cut to a commercial — missing the shot entirely.
The production staff quickly caught its error and promptly cut back to the game. But it was too late. The shot had been taken (and missed, though the Lakers did eventually win in overtime). The damage had been done.
People on Twitter were pretty irked by the snafu:
I’m just wanna see Josh Hart try and win the game

Never seen that. Josh Hart drives the lane with less than :03 left in a tie game, I’m hoping for a game-winner … and for some reason, ESPN GOES TO COMMERCIAL??
That happen to anyone else?

Did anyone’s TV just go to a commercial just as Josh Hart went to put up the shot at the buzzer? #NBA #Lakers

Whoever works at ESPN and just cut to commercial during Josh Hart’s game winning attempt needs to be fired ASAP.
